Drivers License Information Available to Private Investigators Soon

The Utah Drivers License Division has been working to develop secure online access for licensed Utah private investigators. The Division expects to roll out access by the end of this year.

Training Conference Materials Available

Licensed private investigators from St. George to Logan met at the Hilton Gardens Inn in Sandy, Utah as the Private Investigator Association of Utah (PIAU) hosted its annual training conference.  Members presenting training topics of great value to its member agencies and investigators.

Organized the first private investigators association in the state of Utah

Sponsored the Private Investigators Regulation Act (Utah Title 53)

Helped ensure private investigator access to protected records, including DMV and drivers license records

2002

Worked with legislators, the Law Enforcement Legislative Committee, and the insurance industry to maintain access to protected accident reports

Worked with the Law Enforcement Legislative Committee to prevent the transfer of oversight from DPS

2003

Worked with the Law Enforcement Legislative Committee to prevent the negative provisions of HB 217 and worked to speed up processing of investigator licenses

Sponsored SB 111 which authorized private investigators to serve petitions supplemental orders , orders came up to show cause , notices, small claims orders, writs of garnishment and garnishee orders

2005

Worked with Layton City to clarify exemption of private investigators from the city’s “dumpster diving” ban
